Healing Rayne: Caitlin?

Miss Nebula straightens as they approach, almost stiff, looking at each face, "Um...Hi."

Barometra: Evening.
Barometra smiles politely.

Liberty Bill smiles and offers his hand......."Liberty Bill......nice to meet you."

Miss Nebula looks relieved to see Rayne, smiling wider, "Hi."

Healing Rayne: how are things?

Miss Nebula shakes Bill's hand, "How are you, sir. It's nice to meet you."
Miss Nebula bites the inside of her cheek

Liberty Bill: I'm well, thank you. Nice to meet you as well.......

Vangarde: Hello all
Vangarde smiles

Miss Nebula: Oh good. Hi Marc.

Healing Rayne: OH! You're joining Liberty Force?

Liberty Bill: Hello Vangarde

Barometra: Vangarde.

Miss Nebula nods to Rayne with an embarrassed smile, "If they want me, of course."

[PrivateComm]Miss Nebula: Right. Sorry.

Healing Rayne: I'm sure they'll love you!

Barometra: Hm.

Miss Nebula: So...um...I'm Caitlin...er...Miss Nebula.

Barometra: Nice to meet you.

Liberty Bill: Tell us a little about yourself, Miss Nebula.

Miss Nebula begins to look like she's feeling like she's in front of a firing line, offering as bright a smile as she can muster for Barometra, "Nice to meet you too."

Miss Nebula: Well, um...*looks at Van and Rayne for support*...I'm new to this, but everyone's kinda showing me how to get around.
Miss Nebula: I'm going to community college here in Galaxy.
Miss Nebula: I, uh...well, if you ask me something, I can answer it.

Vangarde chuckles

Miss Nebula: I don't know that I'm all that interesting.

Liberty Bill: Well, you can relax Miss........*smiles* we just want to get to know you a little better

Vangarde: Why do you want to be a hero Ms Nebula?

Barometra half-smiles.

Vangarde grins

Miss Nebula: Um...Okay. *smiles* Well, my brother was this really great guy, you know? Everyone liked him and I thought he was...well, he was my big brother, you know? And...well, he... *looks at Van and shakes her head* Well, he saved my life.

Liberty Bill nods and listens

Barometra nods with a polite smile.

Miss Nebula: And, I just... I figure if I can do half the good he would've done if he had lived, then maybe I can honor that.

Liberty Bill: A very noble cause

Miss Nebula has lost a lot of the childish mirth as she's explained this, her manner becoming a little less rushed.

Barometra: So what about the Liberty Force has interested you?

Barometra bites back a laugh.

Vangarde coughs.

Miss Nebula: Well, Mar-- Van said that I could apply with you after I told him I didn't know if anyone would take me because of lack of experience and my age.

Healing Rayne grins wide

Miss Nebula looks around at them all, confused and sensing something is going on that she's not aware of.

Barometra nods.

Liberty Bill: Hmmm.......well, no offense Miss.....but we're not a 'social club'.

Vangarde sighs.

Liberty Bill: We're serious and dilligent in our duties to our country

Miss Nebula: Oh no, I know that.

Liberty Bill nods

Miss Nebula bites the inside of her cheek again, "I just...well, Celeste is my sponsor in this program I'm in through the rec center, and she and Van have been really great to me. Anyway, I respect them, kinda want to be like them one day, you know?

Liberty Bill: Most certainly and that's a high mark you set for yourself
Liberty Bill: Can I ask......what's your experience in the military?

Vangarde: Ms. Nebula, remember when we spoke about this before?
Vangarde: Sorry Sir.

Liberty Bill: No need to apolgize, Marc......this is just a little chat

Miss Nebula: I mean... I grew up with... *falters, looking a little overwhelmed* Yeah, Van. I just... I want to do what I can to do something good for the community, you know?
Miss Nebula: I love Paragon, and I don't want what happened to Eastgate to ever happen again, and we can only do that by being active in our own backyard like you said that time.
Miss Nebula sighs her frustration, knowing she's blown it.

Vangarde smiles

Liberty Bill smiles a bit

Miss Nebula: I just... I want to do something good.

Liberty Bill: Caitlin, life in the Liberty Force isn't the easiest of roads.......we just need to be sure that you're.....prepared.......for what you might encounter.

Vangarde: What are you doing with your life right now caitlin?

Miss Nebula nods to LB like she's absorbing what he's saying and then turns to answer Van's question, speaking in a slower, more assured tone, "I just started classes at community college, and I am trying to get this guy Flux to let me help out cleaning up Eastgate."

Liberty Bill: Flux is a good man....he needs all the help he can get, for sure.

Miss Nebula: He seems like a good kinda guy.

Healing Rayne: aside from coffee..he does like his coffee though.

Liberty Bill nods "Indeed"

Healing Rayne: and bagles..onion.

Miss Nebula: And Rayne and Van and Celeste have offered to help when I need it.

Liberty Bill: We're a bit more.....regimented.....than some of the groups in the Alliance. Are you willing to abide by that?

Healing Rayne: since i live there..It would be my pleasure.

Miss Nebula: Oh yes sir! My mom used to run a sorta tight ship, you know? I'm not a rule-breaker.

Barometra: You were about to mention your family before...

Liberty Bill nods......."Good."

Vangarde winces slightly.

Healing Rayne shifts his feet.

Miss Nebula looks at Barometra, "Well, I...they're... I told you about my brother."

Barometra nods.
Barometra: I know. It seemed like you were going to say something when Bill mentioned military service.

Liberty Bill: My apologies......please, go on.

Miss Nebula drops her gaze to her feet, "No. I don't have any military background or anything. I just got out of high school."

Barometra: Evening Celest.

Liberty Bill: It's not a requirement......I just like to know what experience you have

Vangarde: Where have you lived for almost the past year?

Liberty Bill: Hello Saphire

Vangarde smiles

Saphire Celest: Evening, Ma'am, Bill.

Vangarde: Hello Cele

Saphire Celest: Hello, Caitlin

Miss Nebula brightens when Celeste shows up and smiles at her, then looks to the others, "There's this program through the Anna Anderson rec center in Skyway for youth with powers who want to be heroes. They've got a dorm. I've been living there."

Saphire Celest smiles encouragingly

Liberty Bill: I see......good organization
Liberty Bill: You mentioned your brother.......would we have heard of him?

Miss Nebula: Oh, he wasn't registered as a hero. I don't even know if he knew he had powers before the Hollowing.

Healing Rayne: Hey Celest!

Liberty Bill: Ah, I see.

Saphire Celest: Hi, Chris

Miss Nebula: He was awarded a medal posthumously for saving a bunch of kids from my school.

Healing Rayne: can you describe what being a hero means?

Liberty Bill nods at Miss Nebula

Miss Nebula: It's about always doing the right thing no matter what it costs.
Miss Nebula: I mean...I know that's not all of it, but that's the biggest part.

Healing Rayne nods

Liberty Bill: I agree in that a hero does whatever it takes......and you're willing to do that?

Healing Rayne: have you looked into the other supergroups?

Miss Nebula gnaws the inside of her cheek nervously again, "See, the thing is... My brother did stuff even when it wasn't the popular or safest choice. He was the kind of guy who everyone looked up to, because he was good to everyone - no matter who they were.

Liberty Bill: He sounds like quite a man.

Miss Nebula: If someone needed something, he found a way to make sure they got it. He protected the younger kids from bullies - including my friends and I was just his kid sister. And...well, you know. I want to be like him. So, yes, I'm willing to do that.

Liberty Bill nods and smiles

Saphire Celest smiles

Healing Rayne: wow.

Miss Nebula: And other groups, yes. I told Van that I was thinking about Hero Corps, and he pointed out that they're... Well, they kinda feel like mercenaries, you know? Services for payment. That kind of thing.
Miss Nebula: I don't want to be like that.

Liberty Bill: I can understand that.

Vangarde smiles proudly

Saphire Celest: Caitlyn, What's your focus? Are you trying to save the world, or just our little corner of it, or something in between?

Liberty Bill nods....."Nice work, Rayne."

Healing Rayne: thank you.

Miss Nebula: I think I just want to do what I can. I don't know about the world. I'm not you guys.

[PrivateComm]Vangarde: just so you know. I am on your side here. in fact I think Barometra likes you . I just can't show it. you have top stand on your own here understand?
[PrivateComm]Miss Nebula: I understand. I think I'm doing okay. I am, right?

Saphire Celest smiles. "The Force is mainly concerned with keeping America safe."

[PrivateComm]Vangarde: you are doing great

Healing Rayne: I prefer my small piece..Paragon.

Miss Nebula: Well, that was the other thing. I'm not like.... I'm not one of those kids who grew up in a house down on America, you know? I believe in the things our country stands for.

Vangarde is smiling again

Liberty Bill: Glad to hear it. *smiles* We're a small, but tight knit group, for the most part......

Miss Nebula smiles finally, relaxing again and nodding

Liberty Bill: .....we try to help each other out when we can and have no compunctions about asking for aid.

Saphire Celest casts a sidelong glance at Van

Liberty Bill: We're regimented but not strictly a 'miliatary' organization
Liberty Bill: Alot of us have had military training so you're bound to find all sorts of...........personalities within the group.

Miss Nebula: Oh, I like new people usually. Tonight's just weird because I am trying to impress you.
Miss Nebula: Uh...I mean...

Liberty Bill chuckles

Vangarde chuckles

Saphire Celest smiles

Liberty Bill: It's alright......you're doing fine.

Miss Nebula: Thank you.

Liberty Bill: We do have a two week "probationary" period......

Vangarde: Just be youself caitlin, that is what will impress anyone the most .

Liberty Bill: Just to make sure we all mesh. If we don't, then no hard feelings. Understood?

Miss Nebula nods, "Yes sir."

Vangarde grins

Healing Rayne smiles

Liberty Bill: Could you give us a few moments to confer, please?

Miss Nebula: Oh, of course.

Liberty Bill smiles. "Thank you."

Saphire Celest smiles and winks at Nebula

Miss Nebula smiles wide at Celeste

[[And then, they torment the poor girl with all this silence! It's a crime, I tell you!]]

Vangarde: Ms. Nebula, Let me have your com unit please.

Miss Nebula hands Van her com unit with a hopeful smile, "Here you go."

Vangarde takes it and punches in a new set of codes and hands it back

Miss Nebula takes it back and looks down at it, then back up at all of them, hopeful, "Does this mean you're going to take me?"

Vangarde: Ms Nebula, Welcome to the Liberty Force. You are on the probationary two weeks, at the end of which we will see how it is working out for you.
